If you would have told me a couple of years ago that I would be into Yoga I would have just laughed. I was always the last person to be picked for teams in PE at school. I am so uncoordinated and not great at following instructions or sequences. So I just never thought yoga and me would be a good match.
But my sister had been doing yoga for over a year and kept saying how wonderful it was and figure wise, she has had real visible results from it. Even so, I still had my reservations and thought, no that ain’t for me. Although I liked the idea of being able to say I do Yoga.
Continuing to hear how much my sister loved yoga, which she does on the Daily Yoga App I thought why not give it a go. I know that I wouldn’t keep up with actual Yoga classes as that’s not me, so if I was to do anything, it would have to be something that would fit in around my lifestyle and the app you can use anywhere, at a time that suits you.
So I tried it and for moral support, my husband did a few of the app workouts with me. To my surprise I really liked it and so did my husband. Even the children have joined in with the odd yoga session and my youngest is a real natural.
I have only been doing it for a month now, but in the first week I lost 3lbs, I haven’t lost any more weight than that. But what I have noticed is that I am wearing more of a size 10 in dresses rather than my usual size 12. So I guess it must be toning me more than anything.
The biggest thing that I have noticed is how it makes me feel in my mind. I am prone to anxiety and what I have noticed is that it makes me feel so much better in myself. If I have a day that I am dreading and I do some yoga first thing in the morning, I feel like I can get through the day. It feels like my go-to thing, that I know makes me feel good.
I am very early on in my yoga journey and feel like a complete novice- but we all have to start somewhere. I will revisit this post in the coming months to let you know how I get on with it. But I can honestly say that yoga is the best thing I have ever started. If you do yoga, I would love to hear how it has benefited you?
